Natural Awakenings Magazine was introduced to Michigan at a local health and fitness expo in January, 2004. Realizing the value of layering their marketing and branding by meeting. visitors and other exhibitors at the event, we committed ourselves to participating, sponsoring and exhibiting in as many events in the community as possible.
In 2005, we realized that many of the events we attended missed the committed focus of Natural Awakenings Magazine, so we began planning our own health fair and expo, which was ultimately produced in August, 2005, in partnership with Troy and Laura Farwell, founders of OMWellness and Simple Organics, Oxford, MI. Then in April 2006, we co-founded and produced, along with Upland Hills Ecological Awareness Center and the Energy Department of Oakland University, the first Earth Day Expo, which was held at the Shotwell Pavilion on the Campus of Oakland University in Auburn Hills. Since that time, our event activities have expanded to include the production and sponsorship of, as well as the partnership in, many local events each year throughout Southeast Michigan. Our goal continues to be to create or support the efforts of niche businesses and practitioners in our community, thereby making these resources more readily available to people everywhere who wish to learn new ways to lead a healthier, more environmentally friendly lifestyle...naturally!
