Bee Venom for Lyme Disease

Bee venom and its toxic component, melittin, can reduce the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi that causes Lyme disease more effectively than standard therapy using antibiotics such as doxycycline, cefoperazone and daptomycin.

The laboratory findings come from the Lyme Disease Research Group at the University of New Haven, in Connecticut.
