Instructor at Irene’s Myomassology Institute Wins Prestigious Award

Natural Awakenings News:

The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) bestows a Teacher of the Year Award to an instructor demonstrating outstanding abilities and commitment to high standards for massage therapy education. The AMTA chose Jeanette Roach of Irene’s Myomassology Institute in Southfield as the 2021 recipient. She is lead instructor at Irene’s, where she has been teaching for over 20 years.

Fellow instructor Rob Kelly says, “Committed to providing students with the best education to succeed as massage therapists, she offers one-on-one tutoring for those who are struggling. She spends her free time creating inventive ways to engage students with course material. One of her best and most humorous ways of teaching is when she sings. Without hesitating to be silly in front of the entire class, she takes a popular song and changes the lyrics to teach about massage or anatomy.”

Roach says, “To be recognized for my work is amazing, but the most rewarding thing for me is seeing my students flourish in their program. They literally transform during their year at school.”

Irene’s Myomassology Institute is the largest massage school in the Midwest. Founded by Irene Gauthier in 1987, the nationally accredited school continues to set the highest standards for massage therapy education.

Irene’s Myomassology Institute is located at 26061 Franklin Rd., Southfield. For more information, call 248-350-1400, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or visit
