Solving Skin Issues Simply and Naturally

Understanding How Single Ingredients Work Together

Many natural, yet modern, solutions to skin challenges can be found now in single ingredients that are multi-functional. What we are seeing is that, for the most part, no one person has just a single skin issue. They are typically breakout-prone and oily, or breakout-prone red.

Modern skin experts should be aware of how to solve all these issues with simple, natural and effective skincare products.

For oily skin: clay masks are great to draw out oil, but if your prone to redness and oil, go for surfer masks.

For breakout-prone skin: salicylic acid is great to clear up blemishes and excess oil, but if your dry and breakout-prone go for low level retinoids.

For dry skin: oils such as jojoba oil mimic our natural sebum and are great for dryness but for more extreme dryness go for olive oil.

For combination skin: niacinamide is great for cell turnover and can help dry skin on the cheeks as well as pores and breakouts in the T-zone.

Redness: arnica is great for redness and inflammation but if you have dry rosacea go for defensil, and oily (popular) rosacea go for azelaic acid.

When you look at the individual properties of these following ingredients, they can work as multiples in the above categories:
Salicylic acid is good for oily, blemish-prone, combination. In 1% formulations can help redness as it is anti-inflammatory.

Niacinamide can help dry, combination, redness, and break-out prone, oily skin. It can also help aging, which makes it one of my favorite ingredients.

Retinoids are proven to help everything from dry to oily skin, and better yet help acne and photo-aging. Even though you may feel some dryness at first, that passes the more you develop a tolerance.

Azelaic acid can help everything from redness and rosacea, to breakouts and acne, to aging skin, and even brightening. One of my favorites!

Since these ingredients need to be at certain percentages to be clinically effective, find a skincare line that feature them in natural formulations.
